Why Indians Don't Deserve Heroes

Yes it's true! Indians don't deserve any heroes or icons; we don't know how to respect them. Whether it's a great statesman, a politician, a freedom fighter, a sportsperson or any current icon from any industry. We have a problem with successful people, always trying to bring them down, maybe out of jealousy or god knows what stupid reason. And we do all this after putting these people on a pedestal ourselves! I'm gonna talk about two of the biggest icons India has produced in the last 15-20 years. Let's start with the first....Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin has been forced to to singlehandedly take care of scoring the runs since the time he first opened the innings for India. He didn't ask for it! We expect him to make a century everytime he steps on to the field, but he's also human. He never claimed to be God! We forced this mantle on him. And now, all these stupid jerks on TV and media who could never play cricket if their life depended on it have the balls to criticize him, actually talk about his technique?? Stupid TV channels actually have polls to vote out Tendulkar from the Indian team!! Lemme refresh all you wise people's knowledge a bit--
Highlights of Tendulkar's Test career include:
Rated as the second best batsman of all time, after Don Bradman, by Wisden
Highest number of Test centuries (35), overtaking Sunil Gavaskar's record (34) on 10 December 2005 vs Sri Lanka in Delhi.
Played in the highest number of Cricket Grounds - he has played Test Cricket on 52 different grounds, ahead of Azharuddin (48), Kapil Dev (47), Inzamam-ul-Haq (46) and Wasim Akram (45).
He is the fastest to score 10,000 runs in Test cricket history. He holds this record along with Brian Lara. Both of them achieved this feat in 195 innings.
4th highest tally of runs in Test cricket (10,668) Career Average 54.70 - Has the highest average among those who have scored over 10,000 Test runs Second Indian to make over 10,000 runs in Test matches.
As of January 03, 2007 Sachin Tendulkar(5751) edged past Brian Lara's(5736) world record of scoring maximum runs in tests away from home. Tendulkar achieved this feat in 75 away Test matches while Brian Lara took 66 away Tests. He averages 54.25 in away Tests so far.

Highlights of Tendulkar's ODI career include:
Most runs (14,479 as of 22nd November, 2006)
Most centuries (41) (including the one he hit today against WI)
Played most number of consecutive ODI matches (185)[23]
Most Man of the Match (52) awards[24]
Only player to have over 100 innings of 50+ runs as of October, 2006
Second most number of Fifties (73). Inzamam-Ul-Haq is the only batsman who has scored more Fifties (83) than Tendulkar. [25]
Appeared on the most grounds (90 different grounds)
Most ODI runs by any batsman in any given calendar year - 1,894 ODI runs in 1998.
Most Centuries by a player in one year - 9 ODI centuries in 1998 Most centuries vs. Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. (See this point, all you knowledge less people who blab their ignorance over how Sachin made his centuries vs, Kenya Bangladesh etc, huh! all of you should go live under a waste bin)
Holds the record for scoring 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year. He has done it six times!!!! - 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2003.
Highest batting average among batsmen with over 10,000 ODI runs (as of October 2006)
First cricketer and fastest cricketer to cross 10,000-run mark, 11,000-run mark, 12,000-run mark, 13,000 run-mark and 14,000 run-mark in ODIs
Only cricketer to cross 14,000-run mark in ODIs
Highest individual score among Indian batsmen (186* against New Zealand at Hyderabad in 1999)

Now let's come to the so called non-performance of Sachin in the 2006-2007 season.

MAT Runs HighestScore Avg. 100s 50s
Tendulkar 14 480 141 36.92 1 3
Dravid 12 358 63 32.94 0 4
Dhoni 13 336 62 30.54 0 3
Sehwag 10 148 65 14.80 0 1
Yuvraj 5 64 27 16.00 0 0

Sachin has played 14 games in all, at an average of almost 37 -- the best among all batsmen this season! His overall career average is almost 44. So, is he really out of form that warrants dropping him??Then, let's take a look at the rest. Dhoni and Dravid are the only other players who have an average of above 30! And then look at the rest! No wonder India is such a pathetic team!

Let us compare Sachin with the rest of the world, shall we. This is again for those ignorant pricks who blah blah blah about how Lara, Ponting etc etc are so much better than Sachin.

Mat Runs HishestScore Avg. 100s 50s
Tendulkar 14 480 141 36.92 1 3
Ponting 14 460 111 38.93 1 5
Lara 19 472 87 33.71 0 3
Gilchrist 11 298 92 27.09 0 3
Hayden 8 324 117 46.28 1 1

The flavour of the day -- Ricky Ponting, the guy who has hit a purple patch, is just about the same average as Tendulkar. Instead, Sachin has scored more runs than him in the same number of games! You don't see Australians calling for Ricky Ponting's head to be dropped from their ODI team!! See all the other players' runs/averages. The guy is under pressure, he's not been keeping well, and yet his non-performance figures are better than other's 'performance' ones. The so-called experts, all and sundry, are talking about how "bad" a batsman he is now, and the same impatient/unreasonable guys who are calling for his head will praise him if he scores a century the next game. The two games after that, if he "fails", it will start all over again. Please don't hurt this invaluable gem so much that he decides to quit before his time. Show some respect, he has done more for Indian sports than anyone could even dream of.

Let's move on to discuss the second Indian icon; Shahrukh Khan or SRK or King Khan, whatever you wish to call him. I've been witnessing a lot of mindless chit-chat since he took on the role of the new KBC host. As I said earlier, Indians have a problem with successful people. More so with SRK, why? He's not the finest actor we have, he's not the best dancer we have, he's definitely not the best looker we have, he doesn't have greek god's body, he's a mere 5 feet 8 inches tall, he does not wait for 2 years to make one film and make it work, he does not have great fathers to keep him alive in the industry and then bail him out time and time again, but still, he rules bollywood. Oh yes!! he does, ask the distributors, producers, directors, the corporate houses, anyone, and they'll tell you that SRK does in fact rule bollywood. This is what makes people (the ones who're either confused or just wannabe different or are plain jealous of him) criticize him. First episode of KBC; and we already have an opinion poll on all the stupid channels which stupid people watch and even vote for..who's better as KBC host Big B or SRK? What a load of crap!!! Big B had a dream 4 year run at KBC, and you're ready to compare all of that with the poor guy's first episode?? Big B is a living legend withoubt doubt, but SRK is also one in the making..why not support him instead of trying to bring him down.? Remember, he does not go to directors to caste him in a Don or a Devdas, it's because Farhan Akhtar and Sanjay Bhansali know that it's only SRK who could hold a candle to an Amitabh Bacchan or a Dilip Kumar. And what do you want? Big B refused KBC...so..would you rather not have the show at all or let it continue? Stupid janta..mind you, they'll still watch it though. And according to TRP ratings sources Star Plus has tripled it's market share since SRK took over KBC. Lemme again throw in some trivia for these ignorant asses who think they know best...
1) Acording to TIME magazine SRK has an audience of 3.6 billion people, making him the most recognised and biggest movie star in the whole world.
2) He's second only to Dilip Kumar in terms of Filmfare Best Actor awards. He has 6.
3)He has a PadmaShree
4)Has a Rajiv gandhi Award for excellence in entertainment.
5) Has a president's Best Citizen award.
6)Of the 30 odd films he has done, he has been nominated for an acting award for 20 of those!!
7)The wax figure of SRK is almost ready for Madame Tussauds.
8)Twice it has happened, that he had 3 nominations in the best actor category.
9)6 out of Top 10 Indian grossers belong to him
10) DDLJ has entered 12th year of it's run in Mumbai.
11) He has the Sword Of Honor from St Columba's Delhi
11) Alex Perry of TIME says "Forget top 10, he's one to fifty by himself'

He has never been involved in any controversy, not even a hint of affair with his actresses. He's a good man, a family man, a loveable & affectionate man. What do you have against him? The fact that he is mega-successful? Is that all that bothers you? Or the fact that he dances at weddings? I don't know about the Prabhu Chawlas and all the stupid pseudo-intellectuals on TV, but if someone were to give me 3Crore, I'd be happy to dance at weddings all my life.

The fact is SRK is a brand, only the presence of SRK makes a project bankable. He's the only actor in the Indian industry who can guarantee 100% openings himself. People criticized Don, people laughed at KANK, but the movies grossed 165 croes between them, that's the magic of SRK. He even makes average/bad films work. That's why Mallika Sherawat says 'Only Sex and SRK sell'.Bollywood owes it's recent popularity in the US/UK to him, and him only. So all you Aamir, Hritik, Abhishek lovers stop comparing him to Big B(coz you know you can't compare him to them) that's why you take this route. And media, well, as I said, they love to see a hero fall. In 15 years time SRK has attained a position which has put him in the league of (if not surpassed) Amitabh Bachhan and Dilip Kumar, so respect that. Nobody asks you to see his movies, nobody asks you to watch KBC, you have the remote, just change the channel. Stop cursing this Indian hero, who has done so so much for the film industry....made it truly international... made it richer and richer every passing year.
So..the point of this article..one more time. Respect our heroes, you don't want them to stop respecting us. And my sincere request to all the "NEWS channels" and media people...stop this nonsense!

Update: TOP 5 METAL ALBUMS OF 2006

In Flames have been the torch bearers of European melodic death metal for over a decade now. Their earlier albums Colony & Clayman are considered among the best mel-death albums ever recorded. Some even say, that it's because of In Flames this genre exists. I don't know how, but I totally missed Come Clariy(2006) this year. I have been listening to the album since yesterday, and I just can't have enough of it. I'll re-list the albums first and then do a proper review.
1. As Daylight Dies--Killswitch Engage
2. Come Clarity-- In Flames
3. Blood Mountain-- Mastodon
4. A Twist in The Myth-- Blind Guardian
5. Christ Illusion-- Slayer

P.S.-- I've Totally grown out of Sacrament! Uhhh!

COME CLARITY

ll songs are killer; you get everything, from blast beats, mosh riffs, death growls, twin solos, progressive guitarwork..I mean everything. The standout tracks include--Take This Life--As good as an opening song can get on a metal album, Reflect The Storm--melodious headbanging stuff(this song will tell you where Killswitch Engage get their inspirations from), Come Clarity--great mix of heaviness and melody again, Versus Terminus--out n out headbanger, killer of a song, Leeches--metalcore at it's best, Dead End--Sung with Lisa Miskovsky, a swedish pop-star..this song brings about an atmosphere which Evanescence, Lacuna Coil can only dream of, the juxtaposing of Lisa's voice and Anders Friden's screams is impeccable, this song is a killer, Scream--awesome headbanging shit, man..it goes on and on..you know what. REALLY! This album does not have a single song I found boring..so just go out and buy it.

TOP 5 METAL ALBUMS OF 2006

5. Christ Illusion—Slayer
An excellent offering from the pioneers of speedy thrash. Tracks to watch out for: Supremist, Eyes of the Insane and Jihad.

4. A Twist in the Myth-Blind Guardian
Not as excellent as Nightfall in Middle Earth or Imaginations from the Other Side but an excellent album nonetheless. Otherland, Fly, Turn The Page & Another Stranger Me.

3. Blood Mountain-Mastodon
Critically acclaimed the World over, regarded by many as the Metal Album of the year and Mastodon’s best to date. The music here is not as in your face as other death metal acts. It’s more progressive, and requires adequate listening sessions. The music grows on you, like hell!! Tracks to watch out for; The Wolf is Loose, Colony of Birchmen & Crystal Skull.

2. As Daylight Dies-Killswitch Engage
Killswitch Engage is one of my favourite new age death metal(they’re branded as metalcore though) acts. Their inimitable mixing of melody with harsh riffs leaves you spellbound. The End Of Hearache was an excellent album and As Daylight Dies is a great album! Tracks to watch out for; Break The Silence, Still Beats Your Name, My Curse, Reject Yourself, Eye Of The Storm(This is KSE’s best song to date).

1. Sacrament-Lamb Of God
I’ve done the review on my Yahoo 360 page.http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-2431UZ0ibqirWpEnO0Gv_KqJew--;_ylt=AnkBJ0n0LHP2.bgXHOD2nAu0AOJ3?cq=1 So I’ll just say that this is a MUST HAVE album for all fans of the Rock/Metal genre. It’s a classic…has everything. Tracks; Redneck, Descending, Beating On Death’s Door, Walk With Me In Hell. FYI; Redneck is nominated for a Grammy in the best metal performance category.

P.S.--Fallout From The War-Shadows Fall was the biggest disappointment of the year.
